Playing Career:

 – From 1998 until 2002 I attended Bonita High School in La Verne, Ca where I played Water Polo all four years.  While I was at Bonita my team made it to CIF Finals all four years.  We lost three out of the four years and finally one my senior year, when we defeated Damien for our schools first CIF Championship.  That season I was team MVP.

 – I started playing Club Water Polo for Orca in 1999.  I played with Orca for two years and one of the years we took 2nd @ JO’s in Michigan.  I came over to CHAWP after my senior season at Bonita and have been with the club ever since.  In 2002 the 18’s took 4th @ JO’s in Moraga.

 – After high school and 18’s I attended Citrus College for a few years where I also played two seasons for the Owls.  I received 2nd team All – Conference both years I played.

 – In 2007 I finally got out of Citrus and moved a little closer to home where I am currently playing polo for the University of La Verne.  I have one season left to play at the collegiate level and I plan on dominating my competition.

Coaching Career:

 – I started coaching with CHAWP in 2002 once I graduated from high school.  I started out coaching the 12 B, then over the years I have jumped from the 12 G, 16 G, 14 G, 16 B and 20 G.

 – I am the Head Coach at Ruben S. Ayala for the Girl’s Water Polo program.  I took the program over in 2005 – 2006, and at the end of the year we were CIF Div. III Champions.  I received ‘Coach of the Year’ for Div. III in 2006 and was also brought onto the Advisory Board for CIF the girl’s side.  I am still coaching at Ayala and I just finished my 3rd season as the Girl’s Head Coach.

– I gave up the Boy’s Water Polo team in order to continue playing.  I coached the Boy’s from 2003 until 2007, each year our season ended during the semi final by one or two goals.

Education:

– I attended Bonita High School in La Verne from 1998 until 2002, I then attended Citrus College where I received my AA and transferred over to the University of La Verne where I am studying to become a teacher.  I plan on receiving my Teaching Credential and Masters degree from the ULV.

REMEMBERING JOHN HALE
CHAWPgirlskick.jpg (400398 bytes)

To everyone in the water polo community:

John Hale, CHAWP water polo coach for our youth program, died Saturday, May 18, 2002, in an automobile accident while driving his son and himself to a NJO’s Qualification Tournament for Zone 7.  John was 48 years old.  He leaves his wife, Peggy, and five children:  Joshua, Joylynn, Julie, Jonathan and Jackie.

John had been an integral member of the CHAWP coaching team for the past year and has developed many of our younger players.  He was also the head coach of the Rowland High School swimming and water polo programs.  Under his tenure, Rowland teams consistently had winning seasons. John provided service to our athletes as a water polo official for many years as well as dedicated himself to helping young athletes achieve their potential in both athletics and in personal growth.  John was also actively involved in his church and community.

John Hale was a very special member of the CHAWP family.  He brought more than coaching skills to our program.  He was a quiet hero and role model - an exceptional man whose honesty and integrity defined him to his family, friends, athletes and their parents.  John Hale was a personal mentor to me.  I will always be grateful for his impact on my life and his support.  The CHAWP organization will miss John greatly.  Our hearts and prayers go out to his family as they deal with his loss.
